Alternative Payment Models

The AAN has created two condition-based Alternative Payment Models (APMs) for neurology. Learn about the AAN-developed draft alternative payment models.

On January 27, 2015, Human and Health Services announced that it has set clear goals and timeline for shifting Medicare reimbursements from volume to value.

Adapt your practice and participate in new payment and delivery models that limit costs and improve quality of care. Incentives on top of traditional fee for service place more responsibility for cost of care and financial risk onto physicians. Test new models with both private and public payers.

Neurologists, especially those in solo or small practices, may benefit from integration. To learn more about options and steps to take, access the AMA Competing in the Marketplace resource (free AMA login required).
